Intern – Biodiversity Surveys

About the Role

We are seeking enthusiastic interns to join our team to support ecological and conservation activities in Desaru Coast. This position involves working in outdoor environments to conduct biodiversity surveys, vegetation mapping, and manage related data and media. If you have a strong passion for nature, wildlife, a background in environmental sciences, and love working outdoors, we’d love to have you on board!

Key Responsibilities

  • Fieldwork Support: Assist field assistants in conducting biodiversity surveys, vegetation mapping, tree planting, forest restoration activities, seedling propagation, and setting up camera traps.
  • Logistics: Support logistical planning and setup for various field activities.
  • Data Management: Perform accurate data entry and help maintain our research databases.
  • Content & Reporting: Assist in organizing and presenting survey content and data using Microsoft Office Suite.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Eligibility: Malaysian citizen or Permanent Resident (PR) holder.
  • Education: Currently studying Biology, Biodiversity, Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Passions & Fit: Demonstrated interest in nature, conservation, and wildlife. Must be physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions and early mornings.
  • Languages: Proficient in spoken and written English and Bahasa Malaysia.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); familiarity with design software is a plus.
  • Soft Skills: Strong organizational skills, high attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic team environment.

Logistics & Additional Details

  • Priority: Preference will be given to candidates residing in or studying near the Pengerang and Kota Tinggi areas.
  • Commute: Candidates must be able to commute independently to and from Desaru Coast.
  • Accommodation: Accommodation is not provided. However, management can assist candidates from outside Desaru Coast in finding suitable local housing.
